Travel

From Glasgow: Trains (from Glasgow Queen Street Station) to Edinburgh are every half hour, and cost approx. £4 for a single journey. The journey time is approx. 1 hour.

From Glasgow Prestwick Airport: Trains and buses run regularly and take you to the centre of Glasgow. Journey time is approx. 30 mins.

Arriving at Edinburgh

Like many major cities, Edinburgh suffers from heavy rush hour road traffic, and if you are arriving at the airport, the quickest way to get into town is to use the airport bus service.

Airport Bus: (www.flybybus.com) There is an excellent bus service from the airport to the city centre. Buses leave around every 10 minutes throughout the day, a return ticket costing £5 and a one way ticket £3, with a journey time of around 25 minutes. You can buy tickets from the driver The bus leaves from right outside the UK arrivals hall, there is a kiosk marked "Airlink" it is normally a blue and white double decker, number 100. If you arrive in the International arrivals hall, walk through the terminal and follow the signs for buses. Edinburgh Airport is not that big so you can't miss the departure point. Stay on the bus until the end of its journey where it arrives at Waverley Bridge, right outside the main railway station. From here, it would be easiest to get a taxi (there is a taxi rank straight across the road from where the bus stops, and also a taxi rank inside the rail station itself), with a journey from here costing around £5-£7, again depending on the volume of traffic.

There is also a good bus service within Edinburgh.  Lothian Bus number 35 runs every 15-30 minutes and runs between the airport and Ocean Terminal, Leith, approximately 1 mile walk from the venue.  The journey takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.  A journey to the venue from Waverley train station will take around 30 minutes.  All single bus tickets cost £1.10 and are available from the driver.  Please be aware that you do not get change on the local bus.  More information on the local bus service is available at http://www.lothianbuses.com/index2.php..

Airport Taxi: A taxi to the venue/accommodation will likely cost around £20-£30 depending on the level of traffic. If you are travelling in a group, you can get up to 5 people in a taxi and splitting the cost may be the easiest option.

Arriving at Edinburgh Waverley Railway Station: Again from here, the easiest option is to get a taxi. There is a taxi rank in the station, just follow the signs. Cost as above, around £5-£7 depending on traffic. As above, if you wish to use the local bus service, please contact the organisers and we can email you directions.
